Must be Yogi Bear's cousin, Sarah |
Funny name for a convenience store -- sounds vaguely Amish, except they sell cigs and beer! |
Many little churches line the back roads here. This one seemed sweet. |
You can enjoy an ice cream cafe here in an old building. |
Or satisfy your traveling hunger at Vera's Diner. |
Many fields are Kelly Green with spring. |
This town must have my all-time favorite name -- "Shelmerdine." Isn't that fun? |
I'm often tempted to do whole posts of memorable church signs. This one caught my eye all week. |
Dr. Who fans -- what does this old structure look like? |
I bet all the pigs are excited when they're brought here, right? |
Something tells me the palace ain't what they think it is. |
Some fields aren't green; they're stripped and ugly. |
Then the nurse came in to change the dressings on the wound, and to show me how to do it at home. She removed the knee immobilizer (which Adam will be wearing for weeks still), and she began cutting through the ace bandages and the thick dressing.
I'll tell you now -- I'll post a photo of Adam's stitched up knee at the bottom of this post, but I'm warning you ahead of time that it's not a little wound, and it's not really stitches; it's staples. So if you don't like looking at a Frankenstein-like piece of flesh, DON'T LOOK. Okay? Don't say I didn't warn you. But first ... here's the sicky after finally getting home, finally getting up the stairs, finally getting comfortable after eating dinner. He's exhausted. (So am I.)
He snoozed for a bit under my stripey blanket. So sweet.
THE SCARY PHOTO IS COMING UP!!

Looks like my knee after total knee replacement (I had it done on both knees about four years ago). I was so happy to finally get the stitches out. OUCH!
Pig Palace! Hilarious! Yes, I'm sure they feel like royalty.;) So glad your sweetie is home now. Bless both of your hearts! Praying for comfort and a quick recovery, M.K. Lori
I don't get grossed out by medical photos. Interesting how they use the staples, not unlike what Pug Daisy had on her belly. You take care. Settle down and just care for your sweet family. Now it's time to take a breath.
I've been following this saga and am glad to see humour is creeping in as things get better. OK, the knee is gruesome now but my untrained eye can see the doctors did a good job. Maybe your hubby could take up a new hobby while he rests......knitting, crochet?
I know you both must be SO relieved to be home. My mom was recently in the hospital for almost a week, and it was so much less stressful once we were able to be home.
It's cool how you took photos of the things you saw on the 'back roads' that most travelers will never see. :D those green fields are gorgeous!
Keeping you guys in my prayers!
Ouch! Poor Adam but glad he is home. What a lovely lot of sights to have spotted! I like the stone Dalek too! X
So, so glad he is home!
Groan, groan, groan. May Adam's wound and everything heal more swiftly now that he is at home. Your stripey blanket is a sweet comfort for him.
God's blessings on you both ~ Love, hugs and prayers ~ FlowerLady
Loved your little backroads tour! Shelmerdine is a pretty cool name, much like the teeny historic area here named Shoofly! Glad your hubby is home. Blessings and peace to y'all there!
You are SO funny! I made it through the photo. You are so kind to give plenty of warning. I think the one structure in your photos was a silo of some sort, but I never watched Dr. Who, so I'm not sure what you were going for. Love all of the small town pictures. Looks like my neck of the woods. I was thinking that sweet little church may have been a converted gas station! Looks like you finished that stripey blanket just in time. It was made for such a time as this. Hugs to you. Get some rest, girl!
Oh gosh! I've been away from blogs too long. I had to read down the page a ways. I'm sure glad that Adam has come so far from the accident. May God continue to bring healing and a grateful attitude. God bless.
Well you certainly found a lot of interesting signs/buildings on your journey. I chuckled at the Pig Palace (most likely they wouldn't like the actual place).
Wow that is some wound, do hope it heals quickly. I think the staples would gross me out if I have to have them. I'll go for regular stitches any day.
Oy! Well, I like that he gets to cuddle up with the special afghan! I enjoyed the road side sights. Glad you got to, too.
