Wild and Wonderful

I had no cell reception and little internet connection while away in the wild-and-wonderful state of West Virginia, but now I'm back home and can share all the fun Anna and I had. We traveled on a rather stormy day. Blue skies and winds appeared when we crossed into the mountain state.
Anna took the photographs, including a little selfie ...
Farmland:

The drive into Renick:

Anna snuggled down into my parents' old farmhouse.
Mother puttered around happily in the kitchen.
My adorable daddy took the occasional well-deserved nap.
I knitted and looked at Tasha Tudor books
Some cousins brought by a new puppy.
And two of my brothers talked farming for hours. I love to hear their deep, familiar voices rumbling in the house.
Three of my sisters-in-law sat around the table.
And three younger women were all smiles.
My parents' home is all old-world charm.
So is the view from their front porch:

At one point on Wednesday, all the ladies, young and old, were clustered around the kitchen table. We were doing crafts, sipping tea, sharing stories.

One family had to return to their home a few hours away that evening. What a wonderful time of visiting we had! I love family and the warm ties of love that bind us all together. It's a delight to watch the next generation grow up in this delightful "soup" of family. Next time I'll share more of our trip.

Julia looks so happy! I've never seen her smile so much! :)
I love the visiting around the table. It's been a while since I've done that. I especially loved sitting around the table when I was a child, listening to the aunts and my mom relive their memories.
Glad you had such a wonderful time! :)

Somehow I missed the fact your family lived in Renick. Sometimes, when I go to Bergoo, I travel that way in order to visit Jefferson Pools. WV is such a beautiful state and I'm proud of my WV heritage (via Daddy's people). You and Julia had a lovely trip; it's good to go home to family every now and again.

Did Julia go on this trip as well as Anna? I didn't see her in the pictures...

It always seems to me that the autumn clouds enhance all the gorgeous scenery. So glad for you that you were able to be with your family in such a setting
