This is the month, and this the happy morn,
Wherein the Son of Heav'n's eternal King,
Of wedded Maid, and Virgin Mother born,
Our great redemption from above did bring;
For so the holy sages once did sing,
That he our deadly forfeit should release,
And with his Father work us a perpetual peace.
John Milton
Lately Adam has moved onto the front porch/greenhouse to do his study work. On sunny days it's quite warm, and he brings all three dogs there with him.
Speaking of warm, Adam put plastic insulation sheets on our windows. You can be panels of it at Lowe's and attach it with enclosed strips of adhesive.
Behind the curtains, you can see it attached to the frame.
Then you use a blow dryer to shrink the plastic until it's taut. You can't even tell it's there.
I reached in my sock drawer for a pair of comfy slipper socks, which I've worn many times, and what should be stuck to them ... but this!
This reminds me of my mother. She carefully collected her S&H green stamps and had a book for them. It was my job to lick and place the stamps. I think there was an S&H green stamps store near us where we went to shop for items. Isn't it funny to think of doing all that now? It's a mystery how that stamp got into my sock drawer, but then dresser drawers can be mysterious places.
I have a hen who is laying double-yoke eggs. She's a pullet and only started laying a couple of months ago. The photo compares her egg to one of the others I normally get. It's so long! She's laid three so far in the last week.
With our new mini-split heating/AC system, this should save us quite a lot of money on our electricity bill.
I painted a Christmas card for my mother. Well, it doesn't look like Christmas/winter, does it? The photo I was painting from was taken in the summer.
That's her sweet Corgi, Bonnie, posing on the front porch.I reached in my sock drawer for a pair of comfy slipper socks, which I've worn many times, and what should be stuck to them ... but this!

A good friend gave me the Christmas cactus in the top photo, and I'm wondering if that might be my Christmas decorating this year. It's a bit late to put up my Advent candles or my Jesse tree. And getting the big tree set up would be quite an ordeal. I'm still thinking about it. Are any of you as late decorating as I am?

Your painting is wonderful! I love it!
I am slowly decorating. Today I might iron tablecloths and arrange my Nativity. I think I'll put some red on the table via a tablecloth and a runner and mats. Inch by inch and adding more.
I love egg photos.
Have a lovely day, sweet MK.
Your Mom will love the card even if it isn't particularly Christmassy.
Your poor pullet. That has to hurt!
I never find anything in my sock drawer except socks and the occasional drier sheet that clung to one.
I might try that window insulation.
I love your card. What a nice gift for your mother!
I do my decorating in bits--I'll be writing a bit about that tomorrow--and don't put the serious decorations up until the 23rd or 24th, and then I leave them up through the 12 days of Christmas, taking them down on the day after the Epiphany.
When you have a Jesse tree, do you put all the ornaments on at once, or one per day?
AMDG, Janet
Janet, thank you for visiting! I've had my Jesse tree many years. The ornaments were all made by different families in our church 30 years ago. I put on one ornament each day, remembering what it tells me about Jesus. When the kids were little, they did it.
Wow that is some big egg.
I used to collect those stamps when we first got married and got quite a few things for the kitchen with them.
I don't really do much decorating for Christmas. We have a tiny tree with lights, a little village, a Nativity, and lights around the mantel. That's it.
That egg is huge! I love Double yolkers!!! The card you made for your mum is beautiful!
My excuse for not decorating yet -- except a wreath on the front door, which I wanted to buy before Costco ran out of them -- was that the beautiful mums we had decorating the tables at Thanksgiving were still looking good, so I kept them. But today, out they went, so now it's a little bare on the tables, etc, but I'll get to it...
I won't have a crowd here for Christmas this year, so I'm not planning to decorate very much. It's not really my "thing" and I have lots of other good projects to take my time.
