The Crocheted Purse Baby

It's a little-girl purse!
Isn't it cute? It's a pouch purse with a sturdy drawstring and fun tassels.
But when you loosen those tassels and open it ...
... and fold down the edges ...
... it's a little doll cradle with a baby inside.
I had one of these when I was a little girl, if I'm remembering correctly.
I bought this for Julia about ten years ago, and at last she is ready to hand it over to me. I told her I'd take very good care of it for little grand-girlies to come. The dolly used to have a small blanket, but it was lost, so last night I knitted her a little blanket in some similar sock yarn. That was simple.
Then I wondered ... what if I crocheted some of these to sell? They're so cute, and so many grandparents in Oriental have little girls they love to buy things for. So last night, using this one as a model ...
I made one from some pretty variegated purple yarn, and now it's done:
Look at that :) I'm pleased. Getting that drawstring to function correctly what quite a headache, but I did it!
And I made a blankie for the dolly. This dolly in the photo, however, belongs to Julia's purse, so I will have to come up with a quick way to make dollies to go in these purses. I'll keep you posted on that.
'Night, 'night, baby girl!

Oh that is the cutest little thing. I'm sure you'll be able to sell them.

Oh, how absolutely precious! The little girl who still inhabits this grown girl body loves this.

You continue to amaze me. That you could make it by just looking is so cool. Our middle daughter can do the same thing. Such talent. :)

I have orphan yarn that needs to go to a loving home. Sock or worsted or double knit? You are the lovingest home I know. Love your ideas.
