Sunday Evening Comforts

I've been waiting for the rain. I love rain. I knew it was coming today. After returning from church, the sky darkened ...
And began to boom and crackle ...
So I made tea. Ahh. (Deborah Montgomery, you are a good example!!)
Here's the pastoral scene depicted on the inside of my cup.
Soon the heavens unloaded their buckets.
I took a quick cat nap. Sometimes you just have to.
Do I want to read Ivanhoe now? It's so very good! We're reading it for school.
Or do I want to knit on the front left panel of Adam's sweater?
Or do I want to attempt doing both simultaneously, and badly, dropping stitches and rereading paragraphs? (Truthfully, I chatted on the phone with my dear mother for quite a while, and that was better than anything else.)
A friend at church was gifted with a box full of avocados.  Wow! I adore them! She made a "short-cut guacamole dip" at church for us. We brought home three of the fruit, and Adam just made some more for supper.
Scoop out the avocado and mix with part of a jar of salsa. Tada! Instant guacamole, even if you don't have sour cream or lime or anything. And it's pretty good. Have a pleasant evening. I'm going to read about the Lady Rowena and the jousting.

I love rainy days like this. We had a big rain last night and we had to be out in it. I would have much rather been home. What a pretty tea cup! And my tummy started growling when I saw your guac. Yum.

Yay for the knitting! I had a wee nap, too. I'm drinking green tea. Oh, tea! LOVE IT SO MUCH!
Hooray for rain storms. That's a cute yellow house just outside your window. I read recently that when you look at houses to live in, you shouldn't worry about the outside of the house you are going to live in, you should consider what you will see when you look out your window! Smart!

Love, love, love the house with the yellow shutters. Such a pretty view...and rain...you maybe got ours from yesterday. Cooler today too. Enjoy. :)

So happy for you! This morning was the first chilly one for us, heralding Fall. Don't know how much longer I can keep the windows open for fresh air.
Your post about rain reminds me of books I recently read, that happen in a land of **weather** -- I'll post a review soon. Thank God for rain; we are looking forward to the glorious stuff as soon as our Good Father will send it.

I love the rain, too, and right now we are having it in buckets. Praise the Lord! Our total rain fall for August was 3.7, not nearly enough to keep our pond and creek topped off ---- it won't be a problem after today.

A good day for doing some creative work. I'll be posting again later today. I've been working on photos of my vintage collections and still have more to do with my dad's old books.

So happy you got needed rain. A nice cup of tea and a good book is a great way to spend a rainy afternoon.

We had a whopper of a thunder and lightning storm over the weekend. Maybe it was the same one you had? Tea, reading, knitting, talking to your mom; they all sound like wonderful cozy things to do on such a night. The guac looks luscious!

Thanks M.K.! Sunday afternoons are often some combination of tea, naps, reading, and recently, knitting. Sounds like my kind of afternoon! and the rain is a bonus. Love the picture looking out your window of the flowers in the rain.
