Movies to cry by:

See how much progress the boys made in the azalea bed?

Our good friends, Mark and Annie, recommended many good movies to us last year. We put them on our Netflix queue. Three of them have been relatively sad stories involving children. "The Weeping Camel" is documentary-ish, set in Asia -a bizarre account of the unusual musical means that a family uses to convince their camel to accept her baby. "Children of Heaven" is set in Iran, a sweet story of 2 siblings who must share a pair of shoes. "I Am David" we watched last night. A tear-jerker set in Bulgaria in 1952, it tells of a boy who escapes from a Communist labor camp and his adventures in search of safety.

That little boy had a talent for crying convincingly! He could quiver his chin so well. I thought it was adorable. How nice to see a sweet picture of Iranians, instead of our usual evil take from the news.
