The Yarn Stash

I bought a pile of yarn at "Michael's" a while back. It felt a bit extravagant at the time, but the price was so good. Thankfully, I've recouped that much and more, since then, in sales of handmade pieces. Anywho, I wanted to show you the yarn. I even waited until this morning to take these photos in nice sunlight, but still the color isn't quite right. Here's the red I've been using:

The red is actually a bit deeper, darker than this. Here's the shawl I've been working on this week:

It's a nice, open stitch, all double crochets and chains -- very easy, and almost boring.  I want something I can make quickly, and that will drape well. I'm using a size K hook.

Alright. Here's yarn #1. I bought 4 skeins of this.

And yarn #2, again 4 skeins. I bought this yarn to make items for sale, so I chose beautiful rich tones.  These two blues compliment each other, and lots of people like blue. I bought 4 skeins of each because that's how much we buy to make a shawl, in the prayer shawl ministry. It's more than enough.

This yarn is for Julia's Christmas slippers.

And this blue is for Anna's Christmas slippers. This blue lies somewhere between the other two tones.

This last yarn is for my mother's shawl. It's not variegated, but it is a "heather" look. It's wool, whereas all the other yarn is "Simply Soft" brand, and is acrylic. I think Mother will love this color (Hunter, if you think of it, show her this photo, so she can see it. Thanks, dear!) But Mother's shawl will be knitted, and it will take much longer, so I'm only hoping I can finish it by Christmas. If not, it'll be a birthday gift next March :)

That's it for yarn! I'm very glad I bought it when I did, because now I have a supply for making all kinds of winter apparel to sell.
