The Pale Blue Scarf

I found some lovely yarn at Michael's -- "Vanna's Choice" by Lion Brand. The color is Silver Blue. I used a large crochet hook, size N, for a soft, loose feel. I used this pattern once before. The pattern instructions are found at this blog, The Art of Zen. It turned out just as I wanted it to.
This color below is more accurate for the yarn -- it's a silver blue, paler than baby blue. The pattern design is so delightful.
Here's a close-up:
I made mine wider than the original pattern called for -- four full shells across instead of three. I finished this while I sat at the hospital on Tuesday, and I wore it a little. Immediately I noticed that when I'd glance down, the scarf had slid:  one side was much lower than the other. This is what I dislike about scarves. So I attached a button right away. I don't need a buttonhole; with all the holes already available in the crochet weave, I just pick a spot. A single button is quick and easy, and does the trick.
I wanted a warm scarf, one that would snuggle my neck and keep my front warm. This is perfect with a winter coat. It's nearly as wide as a vest, but without bulk in the back. It's not endlessly long, and it stays put. Perfect!

Very stylish and one of my favorite colors. This must say something about the weather...you making something to be warm and having the indoor time and energy to do so.

The color is great, isn't it? You're right Jeannette -- it's been cold and windy, and I've been INSIDE :)

Very pretty! I've decided I need more scarves. I learned to crochet a long time ago and would like to reteach/teach (because I don't remember a thing) myself. I noticed the pictures of your children. I have four children, too, in the same boy-girl-boy-girl order.

Yes -- we have THREE in college now (oh my), and one girl left at home :)
