The lamp finale, kind of...

Alrighty! For those of you out there holding your united breath until the lamp is revealed, here it is:
It does look lovely. It's so tall, I can't get a close-up of the whole thing. And it's MOSTLY finished. While wiring, Adam discovered that the switch is also bad, and he needs to buy a new one this afternoon. So, later I'll post a picture of it, happily ensconced in Anna's room.

Here's the upper part. I particularly like the brass-like parts that aren't painted, contrasted with the creamy white. Such an antique look.
Anna is taking the SAT this morning, poor thing. Been at it for over 5 hours, with only a bottle of water and a Snickers bar to sustain her. Anyway, Julia and I went over to our church, to assemble shoeboxes for Samaritan's Purse/Operation Christmas Child. What fun!
We had a lively group of ladies, ran out of supplies, sent some of us to the local Dollar store, and finished the project. Here is Barb, our fearless leader.
It's wonderful to know that we are making happiness for some children elsewhere in the world.
