Largesse

We're heading into the season of harvest, of gathering things from fields, as the earth begins to yield. One of the blessings of being a pastor's family is the gifts of love that parishioners give us. One man raises many stunning tomato plants, and they're in full swing right now.  He said to come out to his house and take some home.
Another dear lady went to pick sweet corn at a friend's farm, and asked if she could also get some for us. She just brought us about 30 years of gorgeous, fresh sweet corn - yum!!!
Big, full ears.
The wife of the man with the tomatoes said I definitely needed a big handful of her fresh basil. Then she added some mint too.
And her husband also hunts, and she gave us a stick of his own venison pepperoni. Oh my! Sometimes generosity is almost overwhelming, it is so wonderful.
It's a season of largesse and giving. Thank you, Lord, for good friends and good earth!

Just got back from holiday last night and I am trying not to be reading all your blog posts- so much to do to make life even functional after a fortnight away! I could cry over the beauty and wisdom and gentleness and gentility of your posts. I am so thankful that you blog!

We are looking forward to our tomatoes coming in! Just today we took to our church zucchini, yellow squash and cucumbers. My husband made a point to plant enough to be able to share. That corn looks amazing!
