Homemade Egg McMuffin

Adam came up with the idea of making egg mcmuffins for supper tonight. I'm wondering if it's okay to use that term, since we're in no way connected with the Golden Arches. Plus, why do we call them mcmuffins, when they're made with biscuits?
So I sent Adam off to the store for some milk and baking powder, and started on it. First the biscuits. I wanted BIG biscuits. I'll show you why in a minute.
Here they are, baking on the pizza stone. They're each 3 & 3/4" across.
Our delightful neighbors provided us with a dozen duck eggs. They're big also ....
And here's my little "egg form," which I haven't used in a while. The egg fits in there perfectly. I also used it to cut the biscuits, so they would be the same size as the egg.
You remove the form after the egg has set. I flipped the egg over, but the yolk didn't quite get firm. I prefer it a little runny.
The three parts of the sandwich. That speck on the bacon? A stray dab of butter.
I just had to show you a close-up of this biscuit, with the melting butter running across it. Isn't it beautiful?
That was supper. And it was very good.

McDonald McMuffin's are made with an english muffin and not a biscuit. I think that is why they call them McMuffin's. Yours look really good.

Thanks, Beth - I didn't know that, and I used to work there many years ago. That was so delish that I think we'll need to make them again soon.

My kind of food! And WAY better than any McD's or fastfood.
